next to normal

The Hilberry Theatre is not a space designed for musicals and our actors do not need to have a musical auction in order to join the program. However, next to normal is not your traditional musical and our company rose to new heights with this incredibly powerful show. As the stage manager, I helped to lead us through the challenges and opportunities that were before us. We decided to put the band onstage above the actors and worked hard to prepare ourselves for such a musically demanding show. Since we have opened we have been grateful for many excellent reviews and running a show that reminds us that even in the difficult times, "There will be light".
